I love renting apartments when I travel, and VRBO has excellent choices. I find that the quality of their rentals are always high and I haven’t been disappointed. On this trip I met my mom in Seattle  and this is the rental we stayed in. I travel with my other often because she is awesome. Here are some tips to learn how to travel with your mom if it is something you’d like to do.

VRBO Rental In Seattle

This apartment was attached to the main house but we actually never met or saw the owners. I heard them walking around in the morning but that didn’t bother me at all (only for a few minutes, it wasn’t annoying or anything).

We had our own entrance and parking spot which was wonderful because we rented a car. This place was in Seattle but it was about 15 minutes from downtown. PRO TIP: Make sure to ask the owners how far they are from the center of town because it might mean the difference in renting a car or not.  The apartment had everything we needed, we only had to go to the grocery store to get a few things to eat.

I love the feel of an apartment rental, it makes it seem as if I’m really experiencing the city. Something about having everything I need and not walking through a lobby makes me feel more at home. I am in no way knocking a hotel, I have stayed at some really nice ones and will stay at a hotel if I have to, but my first choice is an apartment rental. They are just my thing.

The apartment was extremely roomy and comfortable, my mother and I had plenty of space.

It is always a lovely touch when the homeowner has lots of local magazines to enjoy. We didn’t have to go further than the living room to find helpful information.

This rental was MUCH cheaper than a hotel, and we didn’t have to pay the nightly charges to park our car like you do at most hotels. Have you seen a hotel room this large with all of these amenities for a reasonable price? This rental was less than $125 a night. There is no way you would find a hotel room for that price with this much space.

If you were staying in a hotel, there is no way you would have this much space and comfort. When you stay in an apartment rental, you can spend a fraction of the cost and get tons of space.

Cooking is something I love in my home life, but I rarely cook on vacation. However, it is a lovely perk to be able to make coffee in the morning and keep fruit, juice, and wine in the fridge.

This owner did everything right. Giving your guests lots of helpful amenities is always a good thing. Read here about how you can be a fabulous host.

We had everything we needed from plates to cutlery. We even had a teapot.

This isn’t an official bedroom because it doesn’t have 4 walls. If having a room is important, make sure to specify how many rooms you want when you search. Otherwise, if you just choose the number of beds you’d like, you may end up with a bed like this. This was fine for us, but be aware of what can happen.

Having a washer and dryer in your rental is key! It is one way I am able to pack by only using a carry-on. 

 

Gone are the days when you have to rent a hotel. Again, there is nothing wrong with hotels, but you have other options to choose from when you are selecting where you will lay your head at night on vacation.
