Packing A Checked Bag - What NOT To Do

Have you ever seen anything like this? I wish I could say this wasn’t normal but unfortunately it is. Know why? Bad packing. This checked bag was completely overstuffed. It was on a cart, fell off and everything (as you can plainly see) fell out. This is another reason I prefer only taking a carry-on bag because this couldn’t happen if my bag is with me.

I stopped and picked it up and tried to put all of the passengers stuff back into his bag but I couldn’t because everything wouldn’t fit.  When the bag fell, complete chaos ensued (as you can see) and all of the clothes were unfolded and disheveled.  I’m wiling to bet this man sat on this bag in order to close it and the zipper was probably stretched when he checked the bag.

Also, there was so much stuff in this suitcase  that when I took this bag to baggage services and the guy said, “Why do people pack their bags so full?! This is ridiculous! We don’t have tape!” He was hoping he could find some tape somewhere but I’m not sure if he did.

Had the passenger been using packing cubes he wouldn’t have had this problem either because the cubes would be on the ground with all clothes neatly inside. The point is, please don’t overstuff your bag. If you need to have so much stuff, check two bags. You do NOT want your stuff to end up like this.

I literally had to sit on my bag for the last trip I just took. I used packing cubes tho. Just overstuffed my bag and brought too much. So I oi agree packing cubes are amazing

haha you aren’t the only one who has had to sit on their bag! I’m sure so many people do that and I’ve done it before as well. It happens.
