There are so many beautiful places you can go to enjoy a beach vacation, but I’m here to tell you that Folly Beach should be your next choice. I spent 3 glorious days and 2 nights in Folly Beach with one of my blogger boos, Lillie, who was the ideal traveling companion.  We were delighted to be hosted by Folly Beach in exchange for a blog post, and working in such fabulous conditions has never been easier! Here are 10 reasons you need to visit Folly Beach, SC.

  1. You can have a hotel right on the beach and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

The Tides Hotel in Folly Beach is in an ideal location for your getaway. Each room has an ocean view and the hotel itself is exquisite while being very laid-back in its elegance. Want to see what our room looked like? Check out the Facebook video here.

So many seating options to enjoy the view!

This isn’t the only option, of course. Click here and you will see all of the marvelous  options you can choose from in Folly Beach. Whether you choose a hotel, a home, or an apartment rental, you’ll get the full Folly vibe and personalized care.

2. The pier is spectacular.

3. The wind will make you instantly Instagram worthy.

Let’s face it, many people spend their time trying to find the perfect spot to showoff on Instagram. If you go out on the beach or spend you time on the water, the wind will help you feel like a rockstar and you can get that perfect Instagram shot.

No, we didn’t have fans on us. That’s the wind making our hair do all the fab things!

Don’t you just love the colors in Lillie’s dress? Check it out here.

4. There is a big possibility you will see dolphins.

Have you seen dolphins in their natural habitat? It’s a possibility if you visit Folly Beach. This video on Facebook will help you understand how giddy Lillie and I were when we saw these majestic creatures.

5. You are surrounded by nature.

When is the last time you picked seashells on the shore? It’s such a simple way to pass the time but sometimes, the simple things are what we need to reconnect with ourselves and our loved ones.

6. The diversity of food will make you feel like you’re in a different country.

Whether you love breakfast, lunch, or dinner (or you love them all like I do!) you will take exquisite delight in the vast food options there are in Folly Beach.

Lost Dog Cafe is a local and tourist favorite. If you get there early you won’t have a wait but if you get there after 8am, pack your patience.

Did you know a spring roll can be delicious if it is made with strawberries? It can be if you go to Folly Beach and eat at Jack of Cups.

I have eaten in restaurants all over the world and I can honestly say I have never eaten a strawberry spring roll. After I ate it, I was upset it was gone because it was such a delectable combination of flavors (strawberry, mint, basil, cilantro, and goat cheese) that my mouth wasn’t prepared for the burst of flavor these spring rolls provided. I would literally drive back to Folly Beach just to eat here again.

Lillie captured this pic of the strawberry spring roll. I think we shared this and I almost knocked hers out of her hand and ate it but stopped myself.

Have you ever shucked oysters? Check out my Facebook post here, you’ll see how much fun it was! In Folly Beach, you can eat freshly roasted oysters in the privacy of your backyard. If you choose to visit Folly Beach with friends and family and you rent a house, how fun would it be to enjoy roasted oysters with those you love the most?

You need the correct tools to shuck oysters and I’ve never been happier with a knife in my hand.

7. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular.

There is something so majestic about the sunrise and sunset. It’s one of those naturally beautiful things that even though they take place daily, each time you see either one it is completely different. There are no edits on these pics, I simply wanted you to see what I was privileged to witness.

This is what I saw from my hotel balcony, it was about 6:45am.
This area is called Sunset Cay. I didn’t edit these photos, I just wanted you to appreciate the beauty as I saw it.

8. There are live music options for a variety of tastes.

Live music is a staple in Folly Beach, and even during the off season there are many choices for those who want to hear live music. Check out the Visit Folly entertainment page to stay up to date with what’s available.

9. The quirky bars and architecture will make you smile.

Compare buses, trains and flights

Even if the beach isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy yourself by strolling along main street and walking in and out of the many stores, cafes, and restaurants you will encounter.

The buildings are colorful and the ambience is laid-back, the perfect combination!

10. It’s only 20-30 minutes from Charleston!

While Folly Beach has enough to entertain you on its own, did you know it is just a short ride to Charleston? It’s so much cheaper to stay in Folly Beach if you are visiting Charleston and you still get the dynamic food options AND you get the beauty of the beach. Why wouldn’t you stay in Folly?
