According to Trust for Public Land, green spaces are valuable public health resource and those that visit them are less likely to have symptoms of depression and anxiety. What better place than Paris to visit beautiful parks?

Did you know there was beautiful parks in Paris? You may not think of parks when you think of Paris, but after reading this post you will be able to find the best parks in Paris!

There are tons of beautiful green spaces in Paris where you can sit back, relax, and watch Parisian life stroll by. Of course, if you are headed to Paris, make sure to get my guidebook that will help you navigate the city like a pro.

Making parks part of your trip can be a great idea when you want to rest a bit but don’t want to go back to your accommodations.

If you’re traveling with someone who may need to take a few more breaks or if you’re traveling with kids, stopping at a park can be a nice way to still be out and about while not doing too much.

Did you know there are almost 500 parks in Paris? It’s almost impossible to walk around the city and not run into some form of green space.  While this isn’t an in-depth discussion of each park, hopefully your interest will be piqued.

PRO TIP:  Purchase some toys and a blanket. This blanket is easy to pack, doesn’t take up much room and you can use it on the plane as well as in the park.  This is a great toy for kids to get rid of some of that energy

1. Luxembourg Gardens

One of the most famous park in Paris is Luxembourg Gardens, also known as Jardin du Luxembourg, is located in the heart of the French capital.  This 60 acre park is located in the 6th arrondissement and can be accessed from several different streets surrounding the park.

Whether you want to ride your bike, roller-skate,  or run and play with your kids…you can do it here. The park features a large central fountain, immaculate gardens, and stunning statues that add to its charm.

Visitors can take a stroll along the tree-lined paths, play a game of chess, or just relax on one of the many chairs and soak in the atmosphere. Want a bite to eat? There are a few cafes in the park to choose from. 

There’s also a small lake where you can rent a sailboat and enjoy the beautiful scenery from a different perspective.

There really is no end to what you can do in this park. From newborns being pushed in their strollers to elderly walking on their canes, this park is a Parisian favorite that everyone can appreciate.

2. Parc Des Buttes-Chaumont

 Parc Des Buttes-Chaumont is in the 19th arrondissement and is the 5th largest green park in Paris. The landscape of this park is truly worth the visit. The variety of beauty in this park is astounding. From caves to waterfalls, this park has it all.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is another stunning park that is worth a visit. Located in the 19th arrondissement, this park offers stunning views of the city and features a beautiful man-made lake, waterfalls, and a suspension bridge.

Visitors can take a stroll along the winding paths, explore the caves, and admire the stunning views from the top of the hill.

The park also features several restaurants and cafes where you can grab a drink or a bite to eat while taking in the beautiful surroundings.

3. Parc Monceau

In the 8th arrondissement at 35, boulevard de Courcelles you’ll find one of the most elegant parks in the city, Parc Monceau.

Once you’ve finished strolling down the Champs-Elysees, make your way to this sprawling masterpiece. The  beautiful rotunda at the entrance will take your breath away!

Parc Monceau is a charming park located in the 8th arrondissement that is perfect for a relaxing afternoon. The park features beautiful gardens, a lake, and a stunning rotunda that adds to its charm. 

Visitors can take a leisurely stroll around the park, enjoy a picnic on the grass, or just sit on one of the benches and soak in the tranquil surroundings. The park is also home to several sculptures and statues, which add to its beauty.

4. Bois de Bologne

Bois de Bologne is one of those parks that hasn’t lost its charm even though it is so famous. At one time, this was the hunting ground for kings of France. You could really spend all day here because there is so much to see!

There are ponds, lakes, a campground, pathways, horseback riding…basically anything you could dream of is here. Parc de Bagatelle is located in the heart of Bois de Bologne. There is a Chinese pagoda, a rose garden, and waterfalls.

If you’re looking for a larger park with more outdoor activities, Bois de Boulogne is the perfect place. Located on the western edge of the city, this park covers over 850 hectares and offers a vast array of attractions such as horse riding, cycling, and boating.

There’s also a large lake where you can rent a pedal boat, and several cafes and restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat. The park is also home to the famous Jardin d’Acclimatation, which is a children’s amusement park that features rides, a petting zoo, and a butterfly exhibit.

5. Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil

Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil is one of the botanical gardens located in Bois de Boulogne (listed above). Since 1761, this botanical garden has been exciting the senses of its visitors with its array of rare plants and lush trees.

6. Parc de Bagatelle

Parc de Bagatelle is another one of the outstanding  botanical gardens located inside of Bois de Boulogne. Along with the  the château de Bagatelle, which is a small palace, you will find a 19th century Chinese pagoda which help set the stage for the 10,000 rose bushes that are nestled around the garden.

There are also bridges, waterfalls and caves that are waiting to be explored. When you are ready, there is a gift shop and a restaurant where you can find the perfect Parisians treats. There is a fee for the guided tours in this garden, which as of this updated blog post was 8 euros.

7. Jardin d’acclimatation

While the Jardin d’acclimatation has the word garden (jardin) in its title, it isn’t your typical garden.

It is an almost 50 acre amusement park inside of Bois de Boulogne made specifically for children. From the flying chairs to the carousel, there is something here for every child.

Make sure to wear walking shoes, as this 47 acre amusement park has much to be explored. There are several shaded areas which are necessary when you want to relax, and while the rides may be old-fashioned to some, they are perfect for most.

8. Parc Montsouris

Located across from Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, Parc Montsouris is a park you’ve probably never heard of, but definitely one you should visit. This 38 acre park is filled with over 1,400 trees, and many of those are well over 100 years old.

Even though this is a remarkable park, It’s not usually very crowded which makes it a perfect place to relax, and there are ducks in the pond!

Whether you want to play football, soccer, basketball, or ping pong, this park has you covered. You can enter the park as early as 7am and explore the beauty around you. There are public restrooms and public wifi which are available to you until 9:30pm.

9. Bois de Vincennes

Bois de Vincennes, is located in the 12th arrondissement, is one of the largest Paris parks. It is about three times larger than Central Park and this sprawling beauty has paths, a lake, and so much more.

This is a botanical garden inside of Bois de Vincennes. The beauty of the variety of flowers is enough to justify a visit.

11. Coulée verte René-Dumont

Coulée verte René-Dumont is an elevated park in Paris that gives you a different view of the 12th arrondissement. One of the most recent parks in Paris, it was created from an old railway line.

12. Parc de Bercy 

Parc de Bercy is one of the parks in Paris where you will see lots of Parisian life in motion. Situated in the 12th arrondissement, this area is teeming with Parisian life.

This park is along the Seine and is the former spot of a wine depot and covers 34 acres. Not only does the Bercy area have beautiful gardens, it also has restaurants, cafes, and a movie theatre.

Take advantage of the plentiful lush grass, and meander through the expansive park at your leisure.

13. Parc André Citroën

Parc André Citroën is the former Citroën factory is definitely different with its futuristic look. During the summer months, you can bring your children here and let them run through the massive water feature, while you relax on one of the many grassy areas.

This park opened in 1992 which makes it one of the newer parks in Paris. One of the things that makes this park different is the tethered air balloon that takes kids almost 500 feet into the air.

You may never have heard of this park in the 19th arrondissement, but you will probably enjoy visiting this gem in the city. It is filled with statues, a children’s playground, and tons of natural beauty.

Don’t let the fact that it is lesser known impact your decision to spend some time here. There is a fountain, hillsides, winding paths, and statues.

Because this isn’t a well-known tourist destination, you will be able to explore this park without many people around you.

16. Parc de Choisy

Parc de Choisyis near the 13th arrondissement and from the shape of the trees to the water dancing in the lake, this park has dirt pathways and plenty of space to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Paris parks have a way of being equally beautiful yet distinctly different. Parc de Choisy may be considered more of an urban oasis as it doesn’t have a ton of grassy areas. But what it lacks in grass, it makes up for in water features, murals, and playgrounds.

The cone shaped trees are enough to make you smile, and the fact that this is absolutely NOT a tourist destination will be a selling point for many visitors.

17. Parc Kellermann

 Besides the beautiful trees and and ponds, there are all kinds of recreational activities in this park. There is such variety in this tri-level park, hours could be spent exploring each section.

At 13 acres, Parc Kellermann is the largest park in the 13th arrondissement. There is an array of play areas for children, and because this probably in most “must-see” guides, you can spend your time here being calm and relaxed.

18. Parc de Belleville

Parc de Bellevillle is in an extremely trendy and rapidly gentrified area of Paris called Belleville. If you’ve watched Parisian movies, you have more than likely seen some parts of this park in the background.

Parc de Belleville is located in the 20th arrondissement and is the highest park in Paris which allows for breathtaking views. 19. Jardin des Halles 

Jardin des Halles is located behind the forum des Halles in the 1st arrondissement. Since 1988 this tree-lined, trellis filled oasis has been a sanctuary for many.

This is in the center of Paris and while it isn’t one of the biggest parks in the city, it still has its charm. This is a great place in the French capital to see a completely different yet equally beautiful type of park.

20. Champs des Mars

Situated just behind The Eiffel Tower, this expansive and flat grassy area is the best place to get a full view of one of the most iconic monuments in the world.

Bring a blanket and sit on the grass with your favorite book, or feast on some delicious Parisian delicacies. Whether you chill by yourself or with others, you won’t be disappointed by this small slice of peacefulness.

21. Tuileries Gardens

Nestled between the Place de Concorde and the Louvre you’ll find Tuileries Garden. This 55 acre park has been a jewel in the French capital since the 19th century.

Here you will find two ponds surrounded by plenty of chairs which are free for you to sit in. In this garden, you can run, jog, stroll, walk, or just sit and enjoy the beauty around you.

From June to August there is a fair with rides, and there are cafes with outside seating.
