10 Affordable Hotels in Paris Often Under $200 a Night

Finding an affordable hotel in Paris under $200 can feel impossible, especially when many of the hotels recommended on social media cost much more than that.

You do not necessarily have to stay outside Paris or settle for a questionable hotel to keep your room under $200 a night.

I moved to Paris in 2000 and have returned many times since. One thing I have learned is that location matters, but staying in the most famous neighborhood is not always the best use of your money.

Paris has 20 arrondissements, and staying a little farther from the major attractions can often give you more room for your money while still keeping you well connected to the rest of the city by Metro.

For this list of affordable hotels in Paris under $200, I focused on hotels with at least three stars, private bathrooms and access to public transportation. I also considered something that many hotel lists overlook: the actual size of the smallest room.

Can You Really Find a Paris Hotel for Under $200?

Yes, but you need to be flexible.

The hotels in this article can often be found for less than $200 a night, but that does not mean every room will be under $200 on every date. Paris hotel prices can change considerably based on:

  • The season
  • The day of the week
  • Holidays and major events
  • The room category
  • Whether the reservation is refundable
  • How far in advance you book

The chart below compares 10 affordable hotels in Paris under $200. Always compare the complete price before booking.

Breakfast, cancellation flexibility, and the Paris tourist tax may not be included in the rate you initially see.

If you want a hotel with Eiffel Tower views, check out this post I wrote that give you several options.

What to Know About Paris Hotel Room Sizes

Finding affordable hotels in Paris under $200 requires some flexibility.

Paris hotel rooms are notoriously small. That is normal, particularly in older buildings and the more popular central neighborhoods.

A small room does not automatically mean that a hotel is uncomfortable, poorly maintained or not worth booking. However, you need to understand how much space you are getting.

A room measuring 9 m² is approximately 97 square feet. That space usually includes the bed, bathroom, closet or hanging area and any remaining floor space.

A room that size may work for a solo traveler who packs lightly. It can be difficult for two people, particularly if both travelers have large suitcases.

Hotel photographs can also be misleading. Wide-angle photography makes rooms look larger, and hotels often feature photographs of upgraded rooms and suites more prominently than their smallest rooms.

Before booking, check:

  • The measurements for your exact room category
  • Whether the room is for one or two people
  • The bed dimensions
  • Whether there is space to open your luggage
  • Whether the bathroom has a shower or bathtub
  • Whether the room can be configured with two separate beds

1. Five Boutique Hotel

Location: 5th arrondissement
Rating: 3 stars
Smallest room: 9 m²
Best for: Solo travelers who want to stay in the Latin Quarter

Five Boutique Hotel is one of the more centrally located choices on this list. It is between the Jardin des Plantes and Luxembourg Gardens and within reach of Rue Mouffetard and the Panthéon.

The hotel has air conditioning and an elevator, two amenities I always recommend checking before booking a Paris hotel.

The smallest room accommodates up to two people, but it measures only 9 m² and has a 140-by-190-centimeter double bed.

The hotel currently advertises this category from €117 on some dates.

What you need to know

This room could work for a solo traveler who wants a central location and does not plan to spend much time in the room.

Two people can technically occupy it, but that does not mean two people will find it comfortable. With luggage on the floor, there may be very little room to walk around the bed.

The hotel also has rooms and suites as large as 50 m², but those larger categories will generally not be part of an under-$200 stay.

2. Hôtel Arvor Saint-Georges

Location: 9th arrondissement
Rating: 4 stars
Smallest room: 18 m²
Best for: Two people who do not want to feel crowded

Hôtel Arvor Saint-Georges is on a quieter street in the 9th arrondissement, between the Opéra Garnier and Montmartre. It has 30 individually decorated rooms spread across five floors.

At 18 m², its smallest room is twice the size of the smallest room at Five Boutique Hotel. That difference could be important for two friends, sisters or a couple sharing a room.

What you need to know

The 9th arrondissement is a practical location for shopping, restaurants, Montmartre and the Opéra area. It is also well connected to other parts of Paris.

For two people sharing, this is one of the roomier options on the list. It may be worth paying slightly more for this hotel rather than saving a small amount and spending the trip climbing over luggage in a much smaller room.

3. Hôtel Panache

Location: 9th arrondissement
Rating: 4 stars
Smallest room: 13 m² for one person
Best for: Solo travelers who want a stylish, central hotel

Hôtel Panache is an Art Deco-inspired rooms place travelers near department stores, covered passages, restaurants and several Metro stations.

Travelers sharing a room would need to book a double or twin room, which starts at approximately 14 m² and can range up to 21 m².

What you need to know

This is why occupancy needs to appear alongside room size.

A 13 m² single can be comfortable for one person, while a 14 m² double may still feel tight for two people and their luggage.

Hôtel Panache is a strong option for a solo traveler who wants to be closer to central Paris and prefers a hotel with more visual personality than a basic chain hotel.

4. Staycity Aparthotels Gare de l’Est

Location: 10th arrondissement
Rating: 3 stars
Smallest room: 18 m²
Best for: Longer stays and travelers who want to prepare simple meals

Staycity is an aparthotel rather than a traditional hotel.

Its studios and apartments have kitchen facilities, making it useful for travelers who want to prepare breakfast, store drinks or avoid eating every meal in a restaurant.

The property is about a three-minute walk from Gare de l’Est and is also relatively close to Gare du Nord.

The official hotel information lists studios and one-bedroom apartments, along with fully equipped kitchens and a 24-hour reception.

A July 2026 price search showed a one-night August stay beginning around $137, including taxes and fees, although that rate can change at any time.

What you need to know

Staycity does not provide scheduled cleaning for stays of one to six nights.

Guests can request an additional cleaning for a fee. Longer stays receive cleaning according to the property’s extended-stay schedule.

The immediate Gare de l’Est area is practical and busy rather than romantic.

Choose this hotel for transportation, space and the kitchenette—not because you expect to step outside and see the postcard version of Paris.

5. OKKO Hotels Paris Gare de l’Est

Location: 10th arrondissement
Rating: 4 stars
Smallest room: Approximately 17 m²
Best for: Travelers who like contemporary hotels and shared spaces

OKKO Hotels Paris Gare de l’Est is a modern four-star hotel beside Gare de l’Est. Its classic rooms accommodate one or two people and measure approximately 17 m². The hotel also has a shared Club space that guests can use throughout the day.

The hotel’s official site currently advertises classic rooms from €109 on some dates.

What you need to know

The location is extremely convenient for travelers arriving by train or using Gare de l’Est as a transportation hub. However, the immediate station environment may not match what a first-time visitor imagines when picturing Paris.

The Club gives you somewhere outside the bedroom to work, relax or have a drink. That can make a significant difference when staying in a relatively compact room.

6. Hôtel Albe Bastille

Location: 12th arrondissement
Rating: 3 stars
Smallest room: 11 m²
Best for: Solo travelers who want access to Bastille and Gare de Lyon

Hôtel Albe Bastille is a 31-room boutique hotel in the 12th arrondissement, close to Bastille and Gare de Lyon.

A July 2026 rate snapshot showed rooms for an August stay beginning around $136, including taxes and fees, although prices vary by date and room category.

What you need to know

The smallest room is only 11 m², so this is another hotel that may be more comfortable for one person than two.

The Bastille area gives you restaurants, transportation and access to both the Right Bank and eastern Paris without requiring you to pay Marais hotel prices.

7. Hôtel Cabane

Location: 14th arrondissement
Rating: 3 stars
Smallest room: Approximately 13–14 m²
Best for: Travelers who prefer a quieter neighborhood

Hôtel Cabane is in a more residential part of the 14th arrondissement. The hotel has 42 rooms, along with a garden and tree-lined terrace.

The classic room is listed as approximately 13 to 14 m², depending on the source and exact category.

What you need to know

You will not be within a short walk of the Louvre or Eiffel Tower, but that is part of the reason the hotel can offer more approachable rates.

This is a good choice for travelers who are comfortable taking the Metro and prefer returning to a calmer area at the end of the day.

8. La Conversation

Location: 15th arrondissement
Rating: 3 stars
Smallest room: 11–12 m²
Best for: Solo travelers and light packers

La Conversation offers several room categories in the 15th arrondissement. Its Classic Room accommodates one or two people and measures between 11 and 12 m².

The hotel has a more residential location than properties in the 5th or 9th arrondissements. That can work well for someone who does not need to be surrounded by major attractions.

What you need to know

An 11 m² room can be comfortable for a solo traveler, but two people should seriously consider upgrading to a larger category.

Do not assume that a room’s two-person occupancy means it has comfortable space for two suitcases, two people getting dressed and two people moving around the room.

9. Urban Bivouac

Location: 13th arrondissement
Rating: 3 stars
Smallest room: Approximately 11–13 m²
Best for: Travelers who prioritize Metro access

Urban Bivouac is a modern, independent hotel in the 13th arrondissement. It has 32 rooms and sits across from the Olympiades Metro station on Line 14, which makes reaching other areas of Paris relatively straightforward.

Room listings vary between 11 and 13 m², depending on the exact room category and booking source. I would confirm the measurement directly with the hotel before reserving the smallest room.

What you need to know

The 13th arrondissement will not give first-time visitors the classic central-Paris hotel experience, but it can provide better value and convenient transportation.

This is a practical option for a solo traveler who expects to spend most of the day exploring and mainly needs a clean, modern place to sleep.

10. La Planque Hotel

Location: 10th arrondissement
Rating: 3 stars
Smallest room: 12–14 m²
Best for: Travelers who want boutique style without central-Paris prices

La Planque Hotel is on a smaller street near Avenue Parmentier in the 10th arrondissement. The hotel has 35 rooms, and its smallest Cosy Room measures between 12 and 14 m².

Its common areas and design give it more personality than a basic budget hotel, which is useful when your bedroom is compact.

What you need to know

La Planque is not in the traditional sightseeing center. It is better for someone who is comfortable using public transportation and wants to experience neighborhoods around Canal Saint-Martin, République and Belleville.

Two people can share its smallest room, but I would choose one closer to 14 m² whenever possible.

How Can I Find Affordable Hotels in Paris Under $200?

For two people sharing a room, I would begin with:

  1. Hôtel Arvor Saint-Georges: Its smallest room is 18 m², giving two people considerably more space.
  2. Staycity Gare de l’Est: The 18 m² starting size and kitchenette make it practical for a longer visit.
  3. OKKO Gare de l’Est: Its approximately 17 m² rooms and shared Club provide more usable space outside the bedroom.

A couple may be able to manage a 9 or 11 m² room, but I would not recommend it automatically. Two people sharing a small Paris room need to be comfortable with limited privacy, minimal storage and very little floor space.

Which Hotels Are Best for Solo Travelers?

A solo traveler can usually manage one of the smaller rooms more easily.

Five Boutique Hotel and Hôtel Panache are especially appealing because they provide more central locations. Urban Bivouac and La Conversation may offer better value for someone who is willing to travel farther by Metro.

Solo travelers should still consider the amount of luggage they are bringing. A room can feel comfortable until a large suitcase takes up most of the available floor.

How to Find a Paris Hotel Under $200

Start searching as early as possible, but book a refundable rate when the price difference is reasonable. That gives you the option to check again later.

Compare the hotel’s direct website with major booking platforms. The direct rate is not always the lowest, but it may include better cancellation terms, breakfast, an upgrade or another benefit.

Look at more than the nightly price. A nonrefundable $175 room is not necessarily a better value than a

Most importantly, search several sets of dates. Moving your trip by one or two days can sometimes make a significant difference.

Final Thoughts

You can find a good three- or four-star hotel in Paris for under $200 a night, but you will probably need to compromise somewhere.

The compromise may be a smaller room, a location outside the most popular neighborhoods or less flexibility in your reservation. The goal is not to find the least expensive room in Paris. It is to find a hotel that fits your budget without making your trip unnecessarily difficult or uncomfortable.

Check the room measurements, not just the photographs. Consider how much luggage you will have and whether you are traveling alone or sharing. A tiny room in a central neighborhood may be perfect for one traveler and completely wrong for another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I find a three-star hotel in Paris for under $200?

Yes. Three- and even four-star Paris hotels can be available for under $200 on selected dates. Rates change according to season, demand, room category and cancellation terms, so the same hotel may be affordable one week and considerably more expensive the next.

Is a 10 m² hotel room too small?

A 10 m² room is approximately 108 square feet. It may work for a solo traveler with limited luggage. Two people may find it restrictive, especially when opening suitcases or getting dressed.

What is a comfortable Paris hotel-room size for two people?

I would look for approximately 14 to 18 m² when two adults are sharing. Layout matters, but that range generally gives you more usable floor space than a 9 to 11 m² room.

Should a solo traveler book a single room?

A single room can be a good way to save money, but check the bed width and room measurements. Some Paris single rooms have narrow beds and very little luggage space.

Are hotels farther from central Paris inconvenient?

Not necessarily. A hotel near a useful Metro line can be more convenient than a central hotel that requires several transfers or a long walk. Consider the nearest station and Metro line—not only the arrondissement.
