The crookedest street in the world is in San Francisco, California and it’s called Lombard Street. It’s more curvy than crooked but for some reason it is known as the crookedest street. I haven’t been on this street since I was a kid, Lombard is one of those places that locals don’t go. Not because it isn’t fabulous because it is but it’s a tourist attraction and really, how many of you visit the tourist attractions in your city?
I took all these pics from the truck I was driving, and thankfully when I got to the corner of Lombard and Hyde, there was no car in front of me so I was able to drive down Lombard as slowly as I wanted. You don’t need a car to see Lombard, there are sidewalk pathways that you can walk down in order to enjoy the view.
That’s Coit Tower on top of the hill.
There are usually tons of people on Lombard so I would recommend going as early as you can so that you don’t have to share the road with many other cars. If you don’t have a car I would still say go early because then you won’t have to navigate taking your pictures around all of the people. Look at those people standing in someone’s driveway! I wonder if the owners get tired of that.
There are some truly beautiful houses along Lombard Street so if you go take some time to just look at all the huge homes on both sides.
Unlike Lombard, the sidewalk pathway isn’t oneway so you can walk up and down at your leisure.
