Do you know there is a huge shopping center in Moscow? With all the talk about Russia because of the Olympics, I thought I’d show you some pictures of GUM, a huge shopping mall in Moscow. It’s right off Red Square so you can see this and The Red Square in the same outing.
When I showed my mom these pictures she was amazed because she said when she was there in the 60’s the mall was empty. She said the shops were open but there wasn’t anything in any of the shops. Well how things have changed! This mall is totally upscale and filled with merchandise.
All of the pictures below were taken inside of the mall, check out the pic directly below. See the row of bikes? People can park their bikes inside the mall, isn’t that cool?
There were ping pong tables inside but I didn’t see anyone playing.
We did not try the rye bread drink but now I wish we had.
That’s me!
Check out the Versace advertisement on the escalator.
Wow I’m just going to live vicariously through you. I did NOT know there was a mall in Moscow, and I don’t know anything about Moscow!! argh!! Are you one of those people who are amazing at getting flyer miles? Or do you just save up to travel?
Feel free to love through me! I love sharing my travels with you. I work for an airline so I get flights free or really reduced. MY flight to Russia and in the country I had to pay for like everyone else cause I Was flying with someone who didn’t have flight benefits. Thanks for reading my blog!
haha yay will do!! ๐ ohh I seee now! That’s so amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I love that you go to places out of the norm…(like not just Paris)!
Oh how blessed you are to be able to travel all over the world!! This place looks amazing!
Sometimes I really can’t believe all the things I’m able to do! A true blessing.
Stopping by from SITS! Wow! These are great pictures!!! I can’t say Russia is on my travel to do list but maybe… Have a great day!!

Thank you! Russia was awesome, so different but great. Thanks for stopping by!
Ping-pong tables in the mall! I love it! The rye bread drink sounds kind of odd, but I love to try new things when I travel, so if I ever go to Russia, I’ll have to check it out.
I think that’s why we didn’t try it when we were there, it didn’t sound appealing. And I have NEVER seen ping pong tables in a mall!
Looks like you had an amazing time! I love the pics you took. I visited Moscow a while ago, but never visited this area. Nice to meet you. #SITSBlogging
Thank you! And I did, it was an amazing trip. Thanks for stopping by!
I love finding travel blogs as a mega traveller myself and I was happy to come across this post to see how GUM has changed. I went there in 1994 and 1996 and it certainly didn’t look like that then. It was just beginning to have a few western shops in it but not this level of luxury. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more. I found you through SITS ๐
Do you have your pics of what it looked like then? My mom doesn’t have any of when she went in the 60’s and I Would love to see what it looked like before. Thanks for stopping by!
You know I think I just might. I’ll have a search this weekend and get back to you!
