Every trip I take to Los Angeles I need a car to drive so I’m always grateful to Driveshop for trusting me with one of their fabulous cars for the week. I drove the Mazda MX5 in exchange for this blog post and they let me tell you about their car in my own words. Isn’t that dope?
The Mazda MX5 was all mine to drive for a week and I LOVED it! This was the first time I drove a convertible for a week and when I tell you I had a ball that is an understatement. All pics taken by me on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
The first day I drove the Mazda MX5 I took the top down and this is what I saw. Being able to see a sunset with the wind blowing through my hair was all kinds of awesome.
The Mazda rides very low, much lower than your standard car so when you’re driving around in it you will feel at one with the road. I took my parents driving around in it at different times during the week (my dad was not having the top down) but my mom was a trooper and we drove all around LA convertible style.
We were coming from lunch and driving along the coast when all of a sudden my mom said, “AAAAHHH!!! Wait! MY EYE!” I know I shouldn’t be laughing but it was hilarious cause she was laughing and screaming at the same time. I pulled over, gave her a kleenex and she got her eye together then said, “Okay, let’s go!”
See that 4-6 in the circle below? When your car is a stick shift (oh yeah, I forgot to mention I was driving a stick all week. SO COOL). When you are shifting gears it lets you know which gears you should be in based on how fast you are going.
I picked up my cousin Jourdin from school and we went for a ride around the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles. He has never been in a convertible so he was excited!
Boss chicks drive sticks.
In California it is against the law to hold your phone while talking and guess what? I never had to compromise having the top down in order to have a phone conversation. People on the other end of my conversation were always surprised I was driving around in a convertible, the connection was wonderful!
This car is super fast and extremely fun. It is a two seater so it’s not a car for someone who needs tons of room but you will look so fly driving it you won’t be bothered by the limited space.
Seriously, isn’t this car so purty? And yes, I said purty.
I’m no expert on convertibles but getting this top on and off was simple. It literally took less than 30 seconds to get the top up or down. In 3 simple movements you are done!
