After spending 6 days in St. Petersburg it was time to head to Moscow. St. Petersburg was really a lovely city, and we couldn’t have asked for a better apartment since we were literally right in front of a canal. Thankfully through the owner of the apartment we rented we had transportation to and from the airport which was wonderful, we didn’t have to worry about that at all. As we were leaving St. Petersburg, our ride (I can’t remember her name, she was a lovely woman, so nice!) she said,

“In Russia, before you leave for a journey it is customary to sit and reflect on your travels.”

So we sat for a few minutes until she said, “It is enough. Let’s go.”  So we go in the car and left. We didn’t really understand the whole sitting down thing but hey, when you are in someone else’s country, do your best to honor their customs so as not to offend anyone. And it didn’t hurt us to sit down for a few minutes.

Have you ever been asked to do something while traveling that you have never done before?
