I did not have to pay for my stay at Kingston Plantation through my affiliation with FlipKey but I am have been given the freedom to write my own thoughts and opinions.
Have you ever just needed to get away? To escape a bit of your life for a couple of days? I was feeling like that and I started looking through the FlipKey website to see what places were close enough to drive and would allow me to be near a beach.
I sent out inquiries on Friday and was immediately answered and was able to book my room for Sunday through Flipkey at Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, SC. Please know, none of the places I contacted knew I was a blogger nor that I would be blogging about my experience. The excellent customer service I received from the manager set the tone for my expectations for the whole weekend and they were not in vain. The staff at Kingston Plantation was excellent which made me very happy that I found them through FlipKey.
I had a 1 bedroom condo with a king sized bed, a huge bathroom, a balcony, and a small eating area equipped with a small fridge, sparse plates and silverware, a coffee pot and a microwave. I knew this ahead of time because I asked the manager when I booked what type of cooking would I be able to do in the room. It is important to ask so that you won’t be surprised when you get to your room.
Before I left my house I packed enough food for the 2 days I was going to be there. I knew I didn’t want to eat out so I prepared everything I needed before I hit the road so all I would have to do was use the microwave when I got into the room. This took more time of course but it was worth it when I didn’t have to spend any money on food and was still able to eat delicious meals (you know I love to cook!).
Kingston Plantation is a huge complex of 16 different resorts on the property. It’s a mix of vacationers like me and residents who either live there full or part time.
This was the view from my balcony
Being so close to the beach was an absolute dream. And having a balcony was lovely. The first night I was there it stormed really bad. Did I mind? Nope. I actually sat outside on my balcony trying to catch the lightning with my phone. The top pic was how dark it was before the lightning. The bottom was when the lightning struck.
Of course the highlight for me was being able to be at the beach in a few minutes. There were towels in the room (I completely forgot to bring a beach towel) and both mornings I went and had my coffee while sitting on the sand listening to the waves.
On the way back to the hotel they have a hose for you to clean your feet off before steeping back onto property. So convenient!
I could see the beach from my room, hear the waves crashing against the shore and just a few steps from my room I could see the sunset.
The resort also has a complimentary shuttle service 7 days a week from 7am-10:30pm. The service is on demand, you just have to call and let them know you’re ready to leave! There are several local stores you can get to such as:
- Wal-Mart
- Tanger Factory Outlet
- Golf Courses
- Pharmacy (CVS)
- Red Lobster
- Pancake House
- Sports & Health Club
- Oyster Bar
- Starbucks
- 2001 Dance Club
This is by no means a comprehensive list, there are several restaurants on restaurant row you can get to along with many other local services.
They offer same day dry cleaning, coin operated laundry facilities, a day spa and business services. You can literally be on property and not have to leave if you choose.
