That’s Pam below, GO PAM!
Thankfully our apartment rental was on Promenade Des Anglais which is the street the bike ride and jog took place. This post has lots of pictures and again, I’m not writing much because I think the pics speak for themselves.
Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of my friend Pam crossing the finish line because she didn’t finish the bike ride by the cutoff time but that’s ok, I still think she’s amazing.
I do love how so many people were supporting their loved ones by jogging or walking next to them. One woman was shouting so loudly for her husband she scared her kids and they started crying! But I think that’s great, being able to be there to show your family/friend that you are right there with them, no matter what.
This man was obviously devastated. We saw him stop jogging, it was as if his body just couldn’t do it anymore. He sat down under that tree for a couple of hours just staring. His wife found him a few minutes after he sat down and she didn’t say anything for a long time. She got him some food and water but he couldn’t keep the food down. She just sat next to him, trying to figure out what he wanted to do but he just wasn’t ready to give up but it didn’t look like he was going to be able to continue running. We saw him eventually walking back to towards the finish line so he wasn’t able to complete the jog and I felt sorry for him. Not because I think he’s a quitter because I don’t. I can only imagine how much he trained and then to see how close he got and not be able to finish is heartbreaking.
This guy cracked us up! He jogged 26 miles like this! My friend said, “Hhhmmm…I wonder where he is from?”
