On my last trip to Dublin I stayed in an airbnb apartment that was truly fabulous. I realize I haven’t told you about that yet but I will. Anyway, the apartment didn’t have a washer or dryer but I needed a few things washed so I found a way to do it. I boiled hot water in the kettle then poured it over my clothes.

I brought liquid laundry detergent with me and used it in the basin.  If you are in a hotel and have a coffee maker, you can put water through the coffee maker and get the water hot enough to wash your clothes.

Now, are you wondering why I have a colored item with a black one? Yeah, I don’t know what I was thinking. I was tired and didn’t realize it until the black from my skirt starting running into the purple. So I quickly took the purple out and washed the black alone. So if you don’t have a washing machine, don’t fret. Using a tea kettle and basin is an effective way to wash your clothes. Hope this helps!

  1. Very creative under such circumstances! I usually mix all my colors together but actually use cold water so they won’t bleed into each other. When you gotta do it, you gotta do it.. speedy is my choice so I throw it all in the washer 🙂

  2. Funnily enough, we’re currently in an Airbnb place – one with a washer – and I’m doing laundry as I type. 🙂

If you ever need a Plan B, Dan and I have discovered that a bathtub and free hotel shampoo do a good job as well. (The shampoo works well because it is meant to clean dirt and body oils.) We use the shower to rinse and hang our laundry wherever we can. Lol … we’ve even done that in 5-star hotels. I wonder what the maids think.
