I wrote this a few years ago, you probably haven’t seen it. One from the archives that I think you’ll enjoy!
Granville Island in Vancouver, Canada is one of those places you can wander and get lost in all of the many unique shops that line the streets. I was in Vancouver visiting a friend of mine and I had seen a report about Granville Island and it looked like something I would like so when I asked my friend about it she said, “Oh sure. We never go there but it’s nice.”
I think Granville Island is one of those places that locals don’t often frequent, but it’s a hotspot for tourists. This is the same around the world, my friends in Paris never go to the Eiffel Tower, if you live in Los angeles you very rarely go to Rodeo Drive and If you are a New Yorker I don’t think you spend your nights in Times Square.
We ordered some food and took it outside to enjoy the sunshine. It was a lovely day and I will never turn down an opportunity to people watch.
You notice how colorful everything is? I can’t remember seeing pink bike stands before I thought they were really lovely.
And because there weren’t enough seats for everyone, people made themselves comfortable on the steps.
There were several children outside playing and riding their bikes. The kids could be as loud as they pleased since they were outside and no one seemed to be bothered. Can you see the person in the pic above on the left side of the picture? I didn’t realize I had snapped this as they were just about to eat!
The next four pictures were taken inside the market, where you have a plethora of culinary options, as well as many different craft/jewelry kiosks to browse.
And not only can you buy food but you can get your fresh fruit and vegetables at Granville Island. Everything was reasonably priced and the quality seemed to be pretty good.
There is even a small playground where kids can swing as high as you will let them.
The picture below is of something I have never done but would absolutely love to, it seems like such great exercise plus you get to be on the water! It’s called paddle boarding and it really helps build up the strength of your core.
