Did you know that there are great campgrounds near Charlotte, NC that are only 30 minutes away? The Gafney KOA is a camping oasis for those who love to have options for their camping getaway while staying relatively close to home.
KOA South Carolina has fantastic options all over the state if you want to rejuvenate and unwind. I love to travel the world, but sometimes you need a getaway close to home. So when Gaffney KOA offered me a 2-night stay in one of their cabins in exchange for this blog post, I jumped at the chance.
Campgrounds near Charlotte, NC
I don’t know about you, but being able to spend time away from home without being too far away is wonderful. Sometimes, all you need is a little respite from the responsibilities of life, and being able to unwind with such beauty all around is lovely a treat.
Check out my live video below showing how dope the grounds are. Who couldn’t be relaxed in such loveliness?
My cabin came with a deck as well as a table and 4 chairs on the patio. Having such beautiful campgrounds near Charlotte, NC is a welcomed surprise.
Glamping in a Gaffney KOA Cabin
One of the things I loved about the Gaffney KOA is that you don’t have to have a trailer to enjoy the grounds. While there are several spots for luxurious motorhomes, you can rent one of their deluxe cabins if you want a hotel-like experience. They even have soft, white face and bath towels. And if you are into camping in a tent, Gaffney KOA has several spaces for you to pitch your tent on their grounds.
Each cabin comes equipped with everything you need to feel at home. If you are like me and don’t want to even think about cooking while you are relaxing, bring a few things from home to keep in the compact fridge for snacks. Or if you prefer to dine out, there are a plethora of options no more than 15 minutes away from the campground.
Each cabin has a microwave which I used to make my morning oatmeal, and I also brought some cereal with me. There are several food options within a 10-minute drive of the campground. You are able to come and go as you please with the hangtag you are given upon checking in.
My cabin slept 6, so I had plenty of room. My bed was a queen and I was extremely comfortable. On my first day at the campground, one of my girlfriends came up from Charlotte to spend a few hours hanging out with me.
She works from home so visiting me was easy peasy. All she needed was Wifi because and a comfortable place to work. The bed in the cabin’s living room became her office. I travel with a portable WiFi device, but the campground also has WiFi in the front office.
After she finished her work, we took a walk around the grounds. While I love my solo time (which I talk about often, you can find 20 solo tips here), it’s always nice to spend quality time with good friends. Alexsis got a kick out of feeding the fish. Look at that form!
The next day another one of my girlfriends drove down with her two kids and their dog. The Gaffney KOA happily accommodates dogs, they even have a dog park. The dog went with us as we explored the grounds. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash when not in the dog park. By the way, do you travel with your pets? If so, you need to check out my pet travel guide help you make sure your fur baby is getting the proper treatment.
The kids loved exploring the grounds. No tablets and no electronics needed! KOA has enough nature to entertain kids of all ages.
The kids didn’t want to stop feeding the fish. Being able to spend time in nature with my family was such a treat.
The fish food dispenser that takes quarters, so you can control how long you allow your kids to feed the fish.
The kids loved exploring the grounds on the KOA golf cart! The grounds are extensive and lush. When it’s extremely hot in the summer, the massive trees are a welcomed natural cover from the sun.
KOA Gaffney Amenities
The Gaffney KOA has so much to offer for travelers of all ages. They have a pool, nature trail, volleyball, goat watching, mini golf, shuffleboard and more. Below are a few of the amenities that we tried that I wanted to highlight for you.
Playground
There is a playground for kids that contains colorful swings, a slide, a jungle gym and a slide.
We were all pleasantly surprised to see a playground, and the kids couldn’t get enough of the equipment.
When we got to the playground there was a worker touching up the paint on all of the equipment. The staff takes great care of the grounds and since the park wasn’t extremely full, they took advantage to do some repairs.
When Dior got to the top of the slide she said, “This is high Auntie!”
It was hot but we didn’t care. Being able to just be together while enjoying nature was something we had never done before as a family. Thank goodness there is campground near Charlotte that helped us create memories that we will always remember.
I LOVE long. flowy dresses. I wear them almost daily in the summer. This is another Amazon gem that has pockets!
KOA Gaffney Pool Fun
Camping isn’t the only thing you can do at KOA Gaffney. My niece and nephew wanted to swim so we headed to the pool. The kids loved it! I told their mom to bring beach towels because the campground doesn’t provide those, and the water was so clean and clear, my niece kept putting her head under the water and telling me all that she could see.
I love this bathing suit so much that I have it in two colors! It helps me be cute and modest, which can be difficult to do. It comes in several colors. Click here to get yours!
Come on, aren’t they the cutest?
If a multi-faceted getaway close to home is what you love, then KOA Gaffney is the place for you! You simply can’t go wrong with such a majestic landscape only 30 minutes from Charlotte!
