Have you heard of Embassy Tours? It’s a really cool event in DC where you can basically get a taste (literally) of different countries without packing a bag. I went over the weekend and had a great time seeing so many different embassies and meeting people from different countries. If you didn’t go to the one last weekend don’t fret, you can still get a chance as there is another one on the 9th for the European Union countries.
If you are driving be aware that parking in DC can be precarious. I was with 2 people and between us we have about a jillion degrees yet we couldn’t figure out if we were able to park here! I would suggest parking in a garage and taking the metro if that is possible for you. We got there before it started (it started at 10) and we had a hard time finding a place to park. Thankfully our car was there when we got back because we were all thinking we may end up getting towed!
You can even buy a souvenir passport book and have your passport stamped at each embassy you visit.
We were able to visit several embassies but by far my favorite was Ivory Coast. The line was very long but it went by fast because they had amazing entertainment, music, and the reward for our patience was delicious food and drink!
Now please don’t ask me what I ate because I have no idea. All I know is that it was so good I went back for seconds!
