One thing you should know if you plan on visiting the Botanical Garden in Rio de Janeiro: There are not may flowers here and it is more like a tropical forest than a garden. It is mostly greenery yet it is very peaceful and serene and a great place to escape the fast paced city that surrounds it. With the sounds of the streams that led me to the biggest lilly pads I have ever seen, I was transfixed by the beauty that was around me.
Getting here was pretty easy, we took the public bus that ran down our street. We hopped on the 572 but you can take the 571, 594, or any bus marked Jardim Botanico. You have to signal for the bus to stop for you or else it will pass you right by.
There isn’t much to do here, except look at beauty. It’s not an interactive spot but it’s a place to go to in order to enjoy nature at its finest. I think it’s a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.
It’s about $2.50 a person to enter which I though was amazingly cheap, because you get to walk around 350 acres of greenery. Or just sit on a bench and enjoy the quiet that seems to immediately make you feel calm and relaxed.
The gardens were recommended during my trip to Rio in October yet I didn’t make it. I’ll see if I can fit it in during my return trip this spring. Beautiful photos!
It will be worth the visit. Thanks for stopping by and come back!
