Traveling to Africa? I Am!

traveling to Africa

I’m going to Ghana! Yes, I am so excited to be traveling to Africa I can barely stand it. Β However, before I can go to Ghana there are things I must do to be able to enter the country. Many countries all over the world require that you have a visa and that you get vaccinations.

When you are traveling to a foreign country you must check to see what the requirements are and make sure you have all of the necessary paperwork. You don’t want to plan your trip, buy your tickets, and take time off of work only to find that you can’t enter the country you have so painstakingly taken time to visit.

I called the embassy in HoustonΒ Β and talked to someone who gave me all of the information I needed. Most countries you visit will have a website where you can get all of the necessary information, I just like to talk to people when ever possible when I get information (I’m old school like that).

For almost every trip I have taken to a foreign country, I have looked at the website of the embassy for that country to find out exactly what I needed to do in order to travel. You can google the information or go to the U.S. Department of State which is the official government travel website and will give you information about the country you want to visit.

And please, don’t wait until the last minute to find out what you need to do. Give yourself plenty of time to meet the requirements so you won’t be stressed out or have to pay more to expedite your request in order to meet your departure date.

Have you traveled internationally and had to get a visa? Was it a hassle or not?

Have a great weekend and I’ll be back with you on Monday, ok? But you don’t have to leave, feel free to look at some of my old posts, I promise I won’t be mad!

      1. I didn’t have a blog then. We went to celebrate my college graduation from nursing school. We landed in Rome and knew in three weeks we had to get to London. We had a list of places we knew we wanted to visit, but didn’t plan anything. We just hopped a train when we felt like moving on! It was AMAZING. We visited Rome, Florence, and Venice, then went to Germany to Garmish, Munich and Ramstein. From there we went to Paris and then London. It was the best trip of my life!! I would love to take my kids on a trip like that someday πŸ™‚
