When I travel, I like to do things that most people don’t know about. Don’t get me wrong, I am not above the typical touristy sights because those have their place but at times I like to be off the beaten path. The Camden Lock Cruise in London is, in my opinion, one thing that I don’t think many people think of when they travel to London. Most head straight for Buckingham Palace, The London Eye and/or Harrod’s. But I think taking some time to do a Camden Lock Cruise is a wonderful way to relax and take in a different view of London.

The cruise takes you down a series of locks that allow you to pass from one part of the river to the other. Thankfully you don’t have to do any of the work, you can just sit back, relax and take in the serenity of the cruise.  It’s like you are relaxing in one of the many gardens London has to offer.

Compare buses, trains and flights

It’s pretty amazing that you are in the heart of the city yet you are totally sheltered from the hustle and noise of London and are almost immediately calmed by the lapping of the water and the landscaping surrounding you.

Just like in Paris, Amsterdam, Venice (and many other cities I’m sure) there are people that live in houseboats and you are able to get a small glimpse into their lifestyle as you pass them in your boat.

  1. Never knew that existed–we DID go to all the places you mentioned at the beginning! We also had high tea at Fornum & Mason, which I would recommend to anyone going to London. How long is the cruise? It sounds like a fab idea.

    • London is great for High Tea, isn’t it? The cruise varies in time, depending on where you catch it. The one I went on was a little over an hour, such a great way to spend the afternoon! Thanks so much for stopping by!
